Eve [English translation]

My friend (of sorts) Eve is active

– thinks always positive

– is no "depressive."

Her friend Steve is sporty.

She has flawless skin

and . . . she‘s attractive.

She is creative, decorative,

sensitive; her life's intensive.

For her type (how this sickens me)

there’s no adjective.

I see Eve – I wave, “Hey, Eve.”

If we meet, I think, “Naïve.”

But with Eve

nothing’s hazy.

She is quite communicative;

convinces quite ostentatiously.

controls Eve –

dealing with her work

and the daily reek.

She is progressive, “alternative,”

innovative, quite impulsive,

skillful and effective.

I hate her so profoundly!

I see Eve – I wave, “Hey, Eve.”

If we meet, I think, “Naïve.”

Were I Eve, I’d have Steve.

My life would be fulfilled

and not so primitive.

“Would be,” “should be” – so unreal!

What “could be,” if I had her deal!

Completely, I live sadly in

the “conjunctive.”

I see Eve – it makes me aggressive.

If we meet, I just cross the street . . .
