Hoppá [English translation]
Hoppá [English translation]
I’ve seen 1001 cities, been traveling for 1001 years
One day I met a dashing Arabic ticket inspector
He showed me I had a beautiful eye, therefore I had the day free on his train
And since the place was full of sights to see, he would even show me around
“What language should we speak,” I asked, “I don’t know diddly squat about Arabic.”
“No problem,” he said, he was a hotel receptionist, ticket inspecting was just a side job
He spoke six languages, “even Hungarian a bit” – oopsy-daisy, my jaw hit the floor
A poor Hungarian woman traveling alone is better off hooking up with a man
The Sun is rising slow ’n lazy, a rosebud is springing to life
A new day is dawning, my prince, so I will stop my story,
And since I’m tired of traveling, of clack-click train wheel rattle
I will settle down, live in a house, make me a lil’ child
I will see 1001 cities, travel for 1001 years.
