Kišna dova [English translation]
Kišna dova [English translation]
I haven't cried since I was thirteen
In front of a mosque in the middle of the Old Skopje Bazaar
Men do not cry, mother said back then
Men now do not have the right to tears
God, please let the sky put gray robes on
Let the heavenly fountains run over Sarajevo
I want to hide my sorrow and my tears
Let the rains escort me from the station to above the bazaar
I want my sorrow to be my alone
To hide my tears from both a friend and foe
To be able to say that the rain from all Sarajevo's mosques
Has fallen on my face
God, let the heavenly curtain cover me
Lest someone sees sorrow descend on my face
And I will say that the eaves and gutters are weak
Because I was hiding in Sarajevo's neighborhood
I want my sorrow to be my alone
To hide my tears from both a friend and foe
To be able to say that the rain from all Sarajevo's mosques
Has fallen on my face
I alone have the right to my sorrow
It is neither greater nor lesser than the other people's
Men do not cry, I know that from my childhood
For me, the rain is God's blessing
The rain above Sarajevo is a blessing today
