La fée [English translation]
La fée [English translation]
I too have a fairy at home
When the gutters were so full of rain
I found her lying on my roof
There was a fire on her dress's train
It was the morning
And coffee filled the air
A sheet of frost on everything in sight
Curled in herself, her wings were folded like a book
The moon was drunk when she, went home to the night
I too have a fairy at home
And her tail has been singed
She feels chagrin for what the future holds
She'll never fly again, with the state it's in
Others like her have tried before
And before you, there was one more
I saw her, folded in her wings
And I thought, she must be cold and sore
I too have a fairy at home
And from my bookshelf ledge, she looks up to see
The news on TV and she thinks
Outside is war- that's what she believes
And she reads all sorts of news
Stays cooped up in the house
Stays by the window, counting hours
Stays by the window, counting hours
I too have a fairy at home
And every time she drinks her soup
She makes a clatter, with her wings unhealed
And I know too well, that she's dissolute
But I prefer to kiss her face
Or to hold her in my palm
Yes I too have a fairy at home
She'd love to fly, but her wings are gone
