La Oma [English translation]
La Oma [English translation]
(Recited)
We are going to tell you the story
Of a Chacoan grandmother.
La Oma is a woman,
On her seventies, more or less
She lives on the mounts of Chaco
Near San Bernardo.
(Sung)
She has got blue eyes
Like the water of the seas
Because she came from far, far away
And the sky remained in her blood.
One has to follow the path
To get to her ranch
Made of mud and underpinned
By red quebracho
The yard full of trees
And work tools
A gillnet, a plow
And the view of her Chaco.
La Oma is happy with so little
Actually, let's say with nothing
La Oma was blonde and it's clear
She was a cute German woman. (2x)
(Recited)
How lonely la Oma is
But she doesn't think of anything
How could be possible to think about death
If la Oma is just like a fairy.
(Sung)
In her little ranch, made by mud
She puts some water to boil
She talks to a little parrot
To whom she talks and to nobody else
One has to follow the path
To get to her ranch
Made of mud and underpinned
By red quebracho
The yard full of trees
And work tools
A gillnet, a plow
And the view of her Chaco.
La Oma is happy with so little
Actually, let's say with nothing
La Oma was blonde and it's clear
She was a cute German woman. (2x)
