That we must praise others

What glory is spent shortly

Lost in a ritual moment, gone

N'er recalled or repeated, done

Spent on a cold corpse, benumbed

Cheated of their admiration

Attributes of a common spirit

Faulted or famed to be recalled

Important, if but for one day

Every life should be celebrated

Though some may be meagerly apt

Recognition for domestic deeds

That make life what it truly is

What good then is a eulogy yet

It may dazzle the alien ear so

But has not worth in contention

By those decided, in late praise
