Wind started to blow,

And a leaf, the one that’s still yellow, hurried to be torn off,

And it slowly went down, swinging.

Here comes the earth.

And its speed turned into quiet rustle,

And it stopped among the blades of grass.

Life tends to move forward!

But the dream of every grain of sand

Is still so cruelly simple —

To dissipate energy.

And the world

That once appeared just like a flash of light in the dark

Is moving towards its longed-for winter,

Measuring eternity…

And trillions of years have passed

In just a moment!

Together with May rains and the red light of sunsets,

In hundreds of lights

Of those faraway stars that now

Shine for us generously only in rare dreams.

And we helped them in the best way

We could,

Moving metals to the center of the [periodic] table.

We were surrounded by the hundreds of lights,

As our path was lit

By the ashes of the already burnt-out stars!

Up in the sky,

There’s a crimson sun burning, the very last sun

That gives us its light yet.

One thing is clear:

The laws of life are just secondary,

The laws of sand are the primary ones.

And, meanwhile,

We’ve become almost like gods!

In spite of all the predictions

About the limits of development,

But now

There’s nothing we can do —

The sand is already gone

Of deuterium, tritium…

Life swept through the world

Just like a star wave —

It has begun quietly, and now it quietly ends.

Now the world is completely different,

And it no longer needs

This strange order in the chaos of everything.

And humanity, having served its term,

Will go away —

It will dissolve right after the grass and the stars.

All these fairytales about another,
