Nummela [English translation]
Nummela [English translation]
These streets of the city
Villas and gardens
I walk my dog
And all the best years fill my mind:
We dragged our bikes out of that ditch
After a bet which we had only to see how crazy we would be
At school with friends we divided the girls between us
They we screaming during breaks
When we were chasing after them
And when my dad's band was playing
I took everybody there to see them
When I was listening to them myself, I felt this burn - I had to play too
This is the way I have to walk
This is the way I have to walk
When something wakes inside of me
I was twelve years old
When we moved to the country side
And only a year older
When I was wathing my father being buried
Mom was left with four children
And a new house in debt
But somehow she made it through
And our life could start again
Back then me and my friends took over this park
Our mopeds drove 200km/h and we were walking on the railing of that bridge
And we knew how to turn off the streetlights of the entire town
I started to write songs
The songs were about death
This is the way I have to walk
This is the way I have to walk
When something wakes inside of me
I found the woman of my life
And we moved in together
I was 25 when I said "please, shouldn't we get married?"
Now we have a house of our own
My wife is a teacher
I sleep during the days, and I'm wake on nights
These songs have to be written
Sometimes when it's late I climb on an esker with my dog
And from there we are watching the sleeping Nummela
And I'm thinking
Everything is in its right place
I think I belong here
This is the way I have to walk
This is the way I have to walk
When something wakes inside of me.
