I get up early, one foot in the grave.

Indolently pull myself together, greet the world.

I eat breakfast to a harrowing news bulletin.

On the way to work, on the Tube,

bored, I examine the faces of travellers,

companions in the routine and the yawns.

And in the seat in front,

suddenly a face

completely lights up the carriage

These features bring back memories

of other places, other times,

when I knew a better fortune

I do not dare to say anything, I'm not sure,

although those eyes are without doubt your eyes,

more burdened with nostalgia, perhaps darker.

But I think it's you and you're almost the same

as beautiful as you were, maybe more.

You still look like the saddest girl in town.

How much time has gone by since the first mistakes,

that question in your eyes.

The city cried out and cursed our names,

young hopefuls, no, we had nothing.
