Slovenska [English translation]
Carried by dream’s breath, a black pigeon landed on my hand
Why, I don’t know that, but I greeted the dawn of the morning drained,
As if I’d been flying with him, with heavy, leaden wings,
And saw the world hidden behind the golden clouds.
If I die young, plant nothing on my grave but a rosemary,
Don’t let anyone turn it into the sad third act of tragedy,
I don’t want speeches and eulogies, for other men they can save the wreaths
If I die young, halted in between steps and dreams.
Oh, please embrace me now, strongly, in your best way,
And don’t let the black bird take me away
Oh no, don’t you worry, in a moment it will taper off,
I am just a little crazy and in love
Inside my veins the ancient North abides
And sometimes I can’t figure out its tides.
Why it plays the fool, weaves sadness out of joy,
My simple Slavic soul.
I’m scared by the glow of a million candles that ignite the sky.
Is there an end in tow? Whose is this well, dug up so far?
How does all of this unwind, is anything decided by the humankind,
Or are we here just to strike a balance among stars?
Oh, please embrace me now, strongly, in your best way,
And don’t let the black bird take me away
Oh no, do not worry, in a moment it will taper off,
I am just a little crazy and in love
Inside my veins the ancient North abides
And sometimes I can’t figure out its tides.
Why it plays the fool, weaves sadness out of joy,
My simple Slavic soul.
