Vid VII [English translation]

The sun has long since

Set its course behind mountains

Quiet evening before storm of fog

A night to remember here

Amongst neurotic, dark trees

Where the moon touches1 cold as ice

In its sorrowful2 shape

Here where angles have fallen3

Deep into the swallowing sea4

Here where angles drowned

Deathly dead struck by lightning

Red, it runs down from church wall

And animal in man for the mind5

On hand and foot with goosebumps6

And froth around the mad jaw

The wolf-yellow eye that reflects7

And sees in dark night

From mountain tops and steeps8

Never bends to the frost's grip9

Colder than all the thousands of colds

With the black bird on a shoulder so pale

Adorned with scars from the gallows' rope

1. Or could perhaps be "roams/wanders"?2. Literally "sorrow-heavy".3. Or "plunged".4. Or "deep into the chasm of the sea"5. Actually can't figure out what "teften" truly is in this context. Seems like it can mean a bunch of thing (scent/charisma/sense/ability)...6. Actually I think it's referring to the state of animal fur when it's excited/fearful/angry. Can't seem to find any good English word for it though? Or if perhaps I'm misunderstanding the word altogether.7. Or "mirrors" (verb)8. Not entirely sure about this part. "Spist" I'm assuming means "eaten" but "bratt" probably means "steep", and that doesn't really make for an understandable sentence... I'm thinking therefore it might not be "spist" but rather "spits" which could be "tip/peak".9. I might be misinterpreting "huger", could perhaps be "hungers", as in "never hungers in the grip of the frost"?
