My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult: A Crime For All Seasons

My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult has been putting out dark, hedonistic industro-dance-rock for nine years now, releasing album after album of debaucherous material with song titles that say it all: "Dope Doll Jungle," "Lucifer's Flowers," "Fangs Of Love," "Blondes With Lobotomy Eyes." It's always been a cute schtick in small doses, and live, there's enough smoke and dancers and deviance to put it sufficiently over the top. But My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult has never sounded as tired and predictable as it does on A Crime For All Seasons: Sure, there's lots of vamping and creepy samples and Rocky Horror imagery, but the whole shebang sounds largely faceless, lumbering along in a sludgy haze of programmed beats, uninventive samples and predictable snarling. The band's act has gotten awfully old, and this is its least inspired recording to date.
