Apple has released the official trailer for its highly anticipated documentary, Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie, which is set to premiere on May 12.
Still follows Fox, the legendary Back to the Future and Teen Wolf actor, as he recounts his life story, from his childhood in Canada to becoming one of Hollywoods biggest stars. Director Davis Guggenheim elevates Foxs story with the inclusion of documentary, archival and scripted elements, which come together to take viewers inside Foxs world.
In interviews with Guggenheim, Fox recounts the difficult years that followed his diagnosis with Parkinsons disease, a brain disorder that causes uncontrollable movements, at just 29 years old. Now 61 and having come to terms with the illness, Fox recounts in the trailer how living with Parkinsons has made him a tough son of a bitch.
Ahead of Stills global premiere on Apple TV+, the film screened earlier this year at both the Sundance and SXSW film festivals. Following the films Sundance premiere, Varietys Peter Debruge wrote in his review: Fox is a charismatic guy, and even though his personal story has been overshadowed by Parkinsons disease, Guggenheims upbeat and ultra-polished documentary reminds what a peppy, relatable personality he was and is on-screen.
Guggenheim also served as the documentarys producer, alongside Annetta Marion, Jonathan King, Will Cohen and executive producers Nelle Fortenberry, Jonathan Silberberg, Nicole Stott and Laurene Powell Jobs. Michael Harte (Three Identical Strangers) served as the documentarys editor.
