Nnamdi Ogbonnaya is one of the weirdest—and sweetest—rappers to emerge from Chicago’s vibrant hip-hop scene. His music is often punctuated by odd vocal distortions, synthesizers, and sound effects that might be more appropriate on a video game soundtrack. But all this works to Ogbonnaya’s advantage. He blends all these elements together in a way that makes them feel perfectly natural. We thought it would be fun, in partnership with Goose Island Beer Company, to have him showcase his style for our inaugural Chicago Session. In the video above, Ogbonnaya performs “Hop Off” from his 2017 album, Drool, and talks about the Chicago artists he admires most.
