Sofia Coppola’s New Book Takes Fans Behind the Scenes of Classics Like ‘The Virgin Suicides’ and ‘Marie Antoinette’

Sofia Coppola fans can finally get a little closer to the inside of the famed directors mind or, more literally, a peek at the self-proclaimed mess she she creates while in the process of filmmaking.

Announced Monday morning, a new art book titled Sofia Coppola Archive: 1999-2023 will offer a visual account of Coppolas entire career and personal archives and ephemera. The book will brim with photos of miscellaneous items that now boast nostalgic value from a poster of the Sundance premiere of Virgin Suicides to a marked-up copy of the Vanity Fair article that inspired The Bling Ring. It will also include an extensive first look at her upcoming biopic on Priscilla Presley, Priscilla, set to release this year.

I stepped back and realized, oh wow, I guess I have a body of work now, Coppola told Vogue about her decision to publish her archives. I realized that if I was into a particular filmmaker, I would be interested in seeing all of those behind-the-scenes tidbits.

The book, now available for pre-order for $65, will be released in a limited-run release in September. But in the meantime, there are dozens of coffee table books for movies and TV lovers to tide you over before you Coppolas newest tome is ready to be shipped out.
