Does unapologetically reveling in stupidity make stupidity forgivable If you think it does, you might find Bloodhound Gang's knuckleheaded goof worth the price of admission. After all, it's hard not to smile at the danceable anthem "Lift Your Head Up High (And Blow Your Brains Out)," or be taken aback by the occasional smart lyric ("I'm not black like Barry White, I'm white like Frank Black is"). A cameo appearance by Vanilla Ice on "Boom" doesn't hurt. But like its even-more-puerile predecessor, last year's all-rap major-label bomb Use Your Fingers, One Fierce Beer Coaster is mostly just shrill and dumb, without delivering nearly enough guilty-pleasure humor. It doesn't help that the album's most awful song is its lead track—it's called "Kiss Me Where It Smells Funny," and it's even more appalling than the title suggests—or that the band can't think of anything clever to do with a rote metal cover of Run-DMC's "It's Tricky." Now on its second major label, it probably won't be long before Bloodhound Gang scores its big stupid novelty hit; when it does, you know you're in for a long year.
