Chasing Dreams [Tongan translation]

When will this red light turn green?

So many more people than I’ve ever seen.

Been sent here to chase my dreams,

But it feels I’m falling apart at the seams.

I turn to you, you turn away,

What should be blue skies fade to gray.

I’m supposed to do this on my own,

Yet it’s so hard to try when I feel so alone.

I’m one in a million, literally.

I thought that fact would make me feel free.

Home is so far away from here;

I can walk forever and never be near.

When it rains, I merely close my eyes,

Missing the small town I used to despise.

The simple calm, I long for now,

Wanting to go back, and wondering how.

I know they want what’s best for me,

But it’s the falling apart they refuse to see.

I am lost, alone, not to mention the stress.

Everything’s one gigantic mess.

Nothing is going like I planned,

As time trickles through my hands like sand.

Chasing my dreams as they run away,

When my only dream is being home someday.
