Der Traum vom Fliegen [English translation]
Der Traum vom Fliegen [English translation]
On a tree
in the park of a large city
hung among thousands of leaves a leaf.
The night wind sang in the trees
It rocked the leaf in dreams
of the beautiful world
If I could only once fly like the wind
with the clouds over me
I would give my life
if I could fly
if I could fly
Soon cam Autumn
it dressed the leaf in it's most beautiful clothes
but it complained to the clouds of it's suffering
I must stay and fade
Can I go with the swans
to where the summer never fades....
Then the autumn wind called "You shall fly, fly!"
And he ripped the leaf from the tree, let it go in the big city, let it fly, let it fly.
His luck was short
tired, the leaf sank down onto the road
his rained on, wet grave.
Now at the end of his life,
the little leaf cried in vain
to the house above him
If I could only fly in the wind once more
I would fly to my tree
and forget about the dream
of flying
of flying.
