This sentence doesn't exist in German either but it refers to the idiom "jemanden kurz und klein schlagen" which literally means "to beat somebody into very short pieces" but in fact it means "to beat somebody REALLY up so that he won't be able to walk anymore" (actually only aggressive persons use this idiom). So, Wolfgang Petry wants to say that his fans sing out loud so that it's overwhelming him (as if their voices were their fists to beat him up).
