Les ailes de verre [Long Version] [English translation]
Les ailes de verre [Long Version] [English translation]
The clear iris
Eyes immensely open
Two butterflies under glass
On the ceiling, the neon lights flickered
The light flickered
She locked herself away in dark rooms for centuries
To dazzle herself with the purest ray of sunshine
She said that angels were far too lucky
She said that angels drift where the wind takes them
Two glass wings
But wings voluntarily joined
By the tight thread
Of a watercolour in pastel half-tones
The tepid half-shades that surrounded it
In the clear darkness
She locked herself away in dark rooms for centuries
To dazzle herself with the purest ray of sunshine
She said that angels were far too lucky
She said that angels drift where the wind takes them
But I swear to god
I tried, tried my very best
I painted her room blue
But too lightly, in the cruel tracery
The tepid half-shades that surrounded it
In the clear darkness
She locked herself away in dark rooms for centuries
To dazzle herself with the purest ray of sunshine
She said that angels were far too lucky
She said that angels drift where the wind takes them
So she took a piece of sky
Near the bed, a rainbow
To smile completely
To open everything entirely
I sink into her
And run away
With a flap of wings
I come out of her
Lighter than air
On a foreign land
And I stayed there
Saying nothing
Doing nothing
