Rainha de Copas [English translation]
Rainha de Copas [English translation]
Me, you, naked, barefoot, a sticky situation
Synesthesia
Air, color, flower, sound, deck of cards
You know what my game is and you wanna take your turn in it
Touch, cover, smooth out, slide
Lift up my body and fall
You knew you'd try, so you'd know1
That now it's my turn
You asked for it, now deal with it2
The pressure's on, don't get hot under the collar
Queen of Hearts in the deck of cards
We played cat and mouse
The cobra's child doesn't play around, no
You asked for it, now deal with it
The pressure's on, don't get hot under the collar
I played my cards in this dance
You got yourself into it, now you can't get out
I stole your heart
I stole, I stole, I stole
I'm your one-time thief3
Queen of Hearts in the deck who calls the shots
I stole, I stole, I stole
I'm your one-night thief
Queen of Hearts...
1. This is the part where my non-native-speaker brain fails me, because this line doesn't use any personal pronouns, so it's pretty ambiguous to me who is doing what. Basically keep your mind open because it could also maybe mean "I knew you'd try", "I knew I would try", etc.2. 'Aguenta' as a command can mean things like 'keep it together', 'hold on (be strong)', etc. 'Aguentar' as a verb can mean 'to bear/put up with'.3. "Da vez" is often used when talking about someone you had a very brief relationship with, even as short as a one-night stand (ex. "a da vez", "o da vez"-- 'that girl from that one time', 'that guy from that one time'). It's mildly pejorative and connotes that the person didn't matter or you don't want to remember them.
