Tô feliz [Matei o presidente] [English translation]
Tô feliz [Matei o presidente] [English translation]
[Intro]
It is time to stop the maharajas! I'm Collor1!
- Listen, you all, our president was executed. Here and now, let's hear Gabriel, o Pensador, prime suspect of the crime
- Not suspect, guilty, man. You can say it, I take it on
- How did the tragedy happen?
- I met him and his wife on the street and I didn't hold out, I got a stick of wood that was on the ground and then...
[Verse 1: Gabriel, o Pensador]
I threw a stick at the rat, but the rat didn't die
Mrs. Rosane2, was astonished at the barrel of a .383 that appeared4
Everyone clapped when the body fell
I had just killed the Brazilian's president
Easy, only one shot, right on the sly dog's eye
Who died right there, all covered in blood
Wha? I flew away with the police at my heels
And while I fled I was think this way:
"I should've taken a picture at the moment the blood spilled
To show to my kids, how beautiful, damn"
I was very touched, but I ran for real
And I got away, ah whatcha thinkin'?
And when I get home, what do I see on the TV?
First lady crying, asking "why"?
Ah! Mrs. Rosane, gimme a break, don't piss me off, don't fuck with me
It's not from today that you crying don't talk into
But if you wanna know why I killed Fernandinho5
Pay attention you bitch, listen very carefully
He won the elections and forgot about the masses
And something I don't accept is betrayal
Promised, promised, promised and didn't keep it
So I shot him, fuck off motherfucker
It is only dirty news on this bullshit
It is Magri, it is Zélia
It is Alceni6 with bicycle and umbrella
LBA7, social welfare, enough of this naughtiness
I pulled the trigger and now you are widow
And I don't regret even a little for what I did
I took a measure that made me very happy
[Chorus]
Today I'm happy (folks)
Today I'm happy, I killed the president
[Verse 2: Gabriel o Pensador]
I'm so much happy that I went celebrating
The crowd saw me and they started partying
(It is Pensador, It is Pensador, It is Gabriel o Pensador)
(It is Pensador, It is Pensador, It is Gabriel o Pensador)
They carried me on their back, the shouting didn't stop
I said "I'm fugitive folks, don't shout my name, please!"
Nobody listened to me and the police caught me
They tried to arrest me, but the crowd didn't allow
(The people united will never be defeated)
A party like that had never happened before
It was all very beautiful, happiness and all in peace
And no one will block our money never again8
Corinthiano and Palmeirense, Flamenguista and Vascaíno9
All together with flag on hands, singing the anthem
("The placid shores of the Ipiranga heard
the resounding shout of a heroic folk")10
And the funeral started and all the folks calling the shots
Rushed into the graveyard making an exciting party
We entered into the graveyard singing and dancing
And the president was there, already lying down waiting for us
Everybody saw on his eye the bullet of my .38
And in choir, we praised our athlete on the coffin
Pretty shirt, Fernandinho11
Pretty shirt, Fernandinho
Pretty shirt, Fernandinho
(You, using these wooden clothes, are cute)
And, as always, also there was a more violent group of people
So, in no time the coffin was violated
The deceased was beheaded and the body was burnt
But right after I couldn't see anything because I was surrounded by women
And I was engaged by that
(Ah let me see your gun Pensador!)
So I saw the guys in a different pick-up soccer game
They were playing soccer with the head of the president
And the party carried on with this awesome spirit
It was really a Carnaval all over Brazil
There was a tourist that was surprised by such a happiness and excitement
Arriving to Brazil he asked me for information:
Was Brazil champion? Everybody is happy!12
No my friend, that is for I killed the president
[Chorus]
And the funeral will be fancy
For sure I'll be there
Yeah, I heard that it's PC13 who will pay for it
[Chorus]
1. Collor is Fernando Collor de Mello, a former Brazilian president.2. Rosane Collor, she is Fenando Collor's wife.3. .38 (três-oitão, a slang in portuguese) is the pistol, which is very commonly used in Brazil.4. That is a reference to the Brazilian kid's song "Atirei o pau no gato" (I threw a stick at the cat). The verses of the kid's song are: "I threw a stick at the cat, but the cat didn't die, Mrs. Chica was atonished at the cat's big scream, meow!"5. Fernandinho is an affectionate way of calling someone named Fernando. Here, the author is clearly being sarcastic.6. Antônio Rogério Magri, Zélia Cardoso de Mello and Alceni Guerra. All were ministers during Collor's mandate.7. Brazilian Legion of Assistance (Legião Brasileira de Assistência, in portuguese). It is a public agency, managed by Rosane Collor (at that time), involved with corruption scandals.8. The author is making a reference to the episode, when Collor blocked money withdraws from savings accounts, in Brazil.9. This is how are called the supporters of Corinthians, Palmeiras, Flamengo and Vasco (soccer teams), respectively. Corinthians x Palmeiras and Flamengo x Vasco, in special, are some of the biggest Derbies on Brazilian football. He wants to transmit the message that, even rivals (in soccer) got together to fight for the country.10. That are the initial phrases of Brazilian national anthem.11. This phrase is a reference to a USTOP (shirts brand) TV advertisement, where they used it. This became a famous phrase in Brazil.12. The person interpreting the "tourist" speaks this phrase imitating a foreign accent13. PC is how Paulo César Farias was called. He was involved in some corruption scandals, with Collor.
