The Leader lyrics
The Leader lyrics
There was a great teacher
Who's power was undeniable
With the voice of a fiery preacher
To all he was quite eyeable
From humble birth he grew
Through pains of childhood
Painting he would often do
But no one then understood
He hated the race as all did
In the matter taught to him
The future, theirs was well hid
In his eyes it was quite dim
His land dishonoured, denounced
An empire would again rise
Put in prison when announced
Ambition increased in size
When a prior ruler passed on
This man became The Leader
The country's hearts he won
A book he wrote the reader
Speeches, many were given
Pride and strength flourished
Industry labouriously driven
So the economy was nourished
From depression to better times
Unity was within them
Everywhere slogans and rhymes
On brizzards and banners hemmed
Now to defeat the oppresors
The Leader screamed insanely
To take back our possessions
We tried to keep so vainly
To battle the foe they went
Death, pain, and misery always
Still more men were sent
The unison weakened the days
Power made to an inferior race
Easy to destroy in multitude
Sent to a concentration place
Where the spectre of death stood
This ideal of grandeur perverted
Into a regime of annihilation
The greatness once, now diverted
Faced its own earned exhilaration
The man could no longer smile
For pain shadowed him heavily
His crimes put on trial
The future, his mind's levy
The leak produced weakness
Not only in himself but
Showed the country meakness
As a tank trapped in a rut
He left before it was over
Their judgment he escaped
Beneath the mouldered clover
His ashes were sparingly scraped
But works follow all men
Good or bad they shall stay
To speak of them once again
In the past until today
Regard well the lesson taught
That hatred on contempt be
A curse to them that sought
Superiority not just equality
Greatness is a state of mind
Not an empire as of Rome
Based on the evils of man's rind
Sweet melon in tainted loam
Forget the deeds of his acts
And the mistake may occur twice
Keep in mind the terrible facts
To heed but a bit of advice
Death, destruction were the key
Fear the incentive kept
On the minds a lock you'll see
Hearts lieth in bitter depth
Starting off well with pride
To better everything bad
But the beauty had then died
Ages pass on and still sad.
