Yksinäinen saarnipuu [English translation]
Yksinäinen saarnipuu [English translation]
In the middle of the open sea
There's an islet at the mercy of waves
Not even a bird would make its nest there
The waves hit over the rock
How on earth did it put down roots there
A lonely ash tree
Into a place, where able to succeed
was nothing else living
(How on earth
did it put down roots there
A lonely ash tree)
A lonely ash tree
But from somewhere had the wind brought
The seed of the ash tree there
Wonder why has nature this aberration created
On top of an empty rock
It is soil, into which implant
A human would not be able
Guess that's why one should not uproot
No thing from there
As the wind carried the seed
It took a small one, but the strongest
Gave it the soil most desolate
Believing the tree would root down
On a God-given mission most vital
A lonely ash tree
Waiting for a moment, when the waterside woods
From death awaken
As long as the wind the information to the islet brings
This consummation occurs
Then a seed to accompany it is given
By that lonely ash tree
