One day I dreamed a laughing time to come

And I placed my dream

In a very tall pedestal.

I shouldn't have and, thus, I condemn myself,

Being from the hill and brown skinned,

To love the goddess of the asphalt

One day she got married to someone

Thence from the asphalt too

And it's said that she wants me to be fine

And I, a sad bohemian of the road,

Got married, as well, to the moon

That still is my wife

It is by singing that I carry my cross

Embraced to my friend, the guitar,

And the moonlit night has no longer light;

Who holds me fast is the dark solitude.

It is by singing that I keep far from my heart

This grief that remained from that love.

Wasn't it for my friend, the guitar,

I'd die from nostalgia and pain.
