أيوب وناعسة [Ayoub wu Na'saa] [English translation]

Job suffered much from the verdicts of fate.

And his wife endured these scourges.

His wife was of a noble lineage.

She had never complained to anybody. Even close kin didn't know anything.

Oh, Job! We thought it all to finish in the first year.

In the second year she kept enduring your misery.

In the third year, O, Job, you became so exhausted and ill.

The noble honor is not proof against schadenfreude.

In the forth year you have been let down by the folk of your town.

They said: "Take him and go away, dearest!".

She said: "O, you haters! There is no need for bashing.

How can one escape from shame if he bought1 his own flesh?"

She said: "O, you haters! There is no need for bashing.

Wait for night to pass

and we will be leaving in the morning"

She walked for a day, for two, for three,

For four days, enduring hunger. But Na'saa was patient.

Raising her eyes upwards, she saw a hut on the mountain.

In front of which was a spring of pure, sweet water.

Na'saa left Job there and headed toward the town.

And now she is about to go begging

in wealthy towns.2
