Däckspojken [Daeckspojken] [English translation]
Däckspojken [Daeckspojken] [English translation]
When I was a little boy
I had a dream
that one day to go on board
and sail out on the sea.
I wanted to stay by the rail
when the boat moved from land,
and I wanted to see all that is found
there beyond the sea's edge.
I wanted one day to be captain
on the world's largest ship.
The boldest and proudest
captain one has ever seen.
And I would take us safe into the harbor
in storm and rain and snow.
And my name would be whispered everywhere
where cliffs meet the sea.
There are few of us who become captains,
but many become something big.
I became a deck boy,
but I am proud of what I did.
Because I did what I always dreamed,
which so many dreamed before:
I went on board and I sailed...
Because I did what I always dreamed,
which so many dreamed before:
I went on board and I sailed..
