הוא לא ידע את שמה [Hu lo yodea et shma] [English translation]
One day he was on the road to Be'er Sheva,
The ocean breeze was caressing the shrubs,
By an old Oak tree, she turned her head,
And her braid glided down her shoulder.
The battalion kept on marching, and he marched along with it
And the wind and the sun were kissing his face.
But at one nightly camp, he realized -
He realized he forgot to ask for her name.
He did not know her name,
But that braid
Has followed him the whole way,
And he knew, that someday
They will suddenly meet,
At a dew-filled dawn or at an evening sun.
The second summer has changed shades and colors,
The patrol came back on a Sivan night
The ambulance rushed down to Be'er Sheva
And she waited, waited for him in a white robe.
And he asked "Do you...?", and she replied "I remember",
And they spoke for hours, no one knew about what
And when he left, never to return, and she remained pale,
She recalled that he forget to ask for her name.
He did not know her name...
