Le mie parole [English translation]
Le mie parole [English translation]
My words are rocks
Precise, sharp, ready to be thrown
At vulnerable and defenseless faces.
They are suspended clouds,
Pregnant with implications
That light up your eyes with endless waiting
They are precious, unforgettable droplets
Long desired, and then cherished.
They are flaming arrows that wind and fortune pilot
They are lightning inside a dark, abandoned well
A deaf and blind face that love painted with light
They are fallen leaves
Owed promises,
May time forgive me for uttering them.
They are off-key notes,
Written by mistake on the capital sheet
And then forgotten.
The words I've spoken, or that I think I've spoken
I'll admit
I held them between my teeth
Past words, recurring words
Unexpected, felt, or dreamt
My words are somersaults
Snowball in the sun
Incandescent missiles, before they detonate.
They are toys and mosquitoes, sand to pile up
Small prohibitions awaiting trangression
They went to sleep, caught unawares by a deep sorrow
That I can't quite explain.
They do as they please
They get lost in the darkness and never come back.
They are endless nights, bursts of laughter
Faces under too much sunlight
All of this, are my words.
Sweet or spiteful,
Full of respect, or confrontational
They are my father and my mother,
A kiss on the forehead right before bed
Another before taking off.
All the words I've spoken, and who knows how many more will come after
Held back between my teeth,
They will spare the bystanders.
Imagined, felt, or dreamt.
Swords, slashes,
Whispered in the dark, forgiven
Gently blown out of my palm.
