More than seven mountains are now behind me

I haven't discovered any dwarfs yet.

I would wander through dark forests all day long

But the witch has hidden her little house well.

I've found lots of frogs, but no kings so far

There are enough Little Riding Hoods - it's just that there're no wolves

Turning straws into gold by means of spinning wheels has never worked out

No "Princess and the pea" - no money rain

Fairytales only exist in books,

Sometimes (you hear them) from (your) grandma and grandpa

Princes (are) nowhere (to be found) - no knights - where are the dragons?

Where are the pirates who do those wild things?

Mother Houlda certainly doesn't shake the snow out of her pillow

I haven't seen the cloth-less emperor anywhere

Seven-league boots can't be store-bought

Those would be really great to have. Then I could walk faster.

After all these stories, my conclusion is

That not everything that's written

Has to be always true!

Fairytales only exist in books,

From time to time (you hear them) from (your) grandma and grandpa

Where's the Sleeping Beauty? Where's Rapunzel in the tower?

And what has become of Aladdin?
