Ο Γλάρος [O Ylaros] [English translation]
Ο Γλάρος [O Ylaros] [English translation]
A boat was all alone in a turquoise sea
and there was a seagull with all-white wings
which was always keeping a close eye on it in order to make signs to it
and dipping its wings into the blue waters
And I was jealous of the small, snow-white boat
that was having its all-white sail kissed by the gull
And I feel like a little boat in the blue broadness
which always waits for some gull to appear
A red geranium bloomed in a pot
and a butterfly came which flutterred like crazy
And who knows what kinds of misleading things the butterfly said to it
that it reddened even more
And I always ponder the opened wings
but I'll admit that I cannot figure out what they said,
Who, I wonder, knows, and could tell me
Let me have heard it from you and let me have reddened too
Yesterday the moon silvered our elm's leaves
the elm stood motionless in the empty space
and when the wind blew it shudderred
and the silver leaves shivered.
And I always ponder, ponder that something,
Must've been said by the wind, a secret told in the branches
Let me have heard the wind's words from you,
and let me have felt a shiver like that of the leaves, in my heart
