A Performance lyrics
A Performance lyrics
Behold as the curtains come to open
An actor appears as if uncertain
He stands before a magnificant audience
To his reach is beheld a graceful beauty
A beauty to behold, within and without
His heart sings with a joyous chorus
Though his speech crackles as fading fire
He walks to her as if treading cautiously
Upon polished optics in care not to disturb
The anxiety lures upon a trapeze
The tightwire of a perilous pursuit
Her eyes softly settle frayed nerves
A peace of mind engulfs him
What shall she expect of me?
Or what shall I expect too of her?
Yet there is something alluring
Something special to this gem
Yet no jewel knows her goodness
Nor the sweetness of her voice
Nor the elegance of her manner
He reaches slowly to touch her
Step by step all so very cautious
To find that a tenderness dazzles
A heart so true as if noble knight
Vowed on a sacred quest
His emotions open abundantly
As if the morning glorys at dawn
Will then he be recieved?
Or rejected and cast afar
The heavy word can crack the heart
A wound open to bleed freely
To extinguish the life within
And then to turn to coldest stone
Yet to the heart she may be welcomed
As if a frigid stranger hoping for warmth
A shadow of enduring solitude prevails
Though a warm smile thaws his soul
The stranger knows many wisdoms
Each taught to enhance the being
Understanding and understood
But then the tale grows of length
Perhaps to run on as the waters
Of the tumbling, meandering brook
That looks uncertain of its destiny
Yet reaches its goal round about
All this the actor reveals
All this his companion views
The play that is never to end
Though the outcome is unsure
Its conclusion is of curious detail
To be yet enacted by the players
For it is in themselves that lies the final act
The summation of tragedy of fairytale
