Chelu Nieddu [English translation]
Chelu Nieddu [English translation]
When the black eagle
flies away fast
the fear arises,
even the reeds are scared.
In the dwelling of the goshawk
now the air is hot,
and it has a shudder:
springtime is passing!
This dark and evil sky,
mysterious, menacing,
does God hold its key?
Let’s open these flames and cry out:
may justice fall like a steel blade
without hurting
but clearing up this dark sky!
Four mothers in mourning
don’t feel the heat
of a summer torn up
by the assault of fire.
Now it’s drizzling,
the pines seem to cry
and the autumn is thinking
where to lay its chestnuts.
This dark and evil sky,
mysterious, menacing,
does God hold its key?
Let’s open these flames and cry out:
may justice fall as a steel blade
without hurting
but clearing up this dark sky!
Without hurting
but clearing up this dark sky!
