People walk over,

with no consideration whatsoever,

desecrating our history,

getting away with it.

Justice turns a blind eye

and four decades later

the crimes of dictatorship

remain without trial.

We will not let go;

we will continue to retrieve

our shaken memory.

We will unearth the truth,

we will make known

the wounds of the past,

which remain open

and never cease to bleed.

Convictions will last forever,

with names and surnames

of the thousands of people

who never gave up

their freedom,

those who died in silence,

far from the battlefield.

There are still those

who want to continue investigating,

those who don’t accept silence

as the only official version.

There are still those,

who continue searching for the truth

in the archives of the Franco regime,

looking for their relatives.

Inevitably

the day will come when the walls

which were erected around the graves

will start to wobble.

The mausoleums of shame

will collapse under their own weight,

because when the earth roars,

the foundations shake.

Convictions will last forever,

with names and surnames

of the thousands of people

who didn’t put a price

on their dignity;

those who died in silence,

far from the battlefield.
