Waiting for the Wind to Rise lyrics
Waiting for the Wind to Rise lyrics
There used to be a time
When I knew where I was at.
People would say to me
"Ah, you're crazy,"
And I'd laugh at that.
There were no dots,
No complications;
Life was a game of situations
For me to play, from day to day.
And living on a feast of dreams
Never questioning
Any plans that were made,
And knowing that
That you would come
When the keeper of all my keys
Would feel this way.
There used to be a time
When I knew what I would be.
Laughing seemed to want to
Interfere with what was meant for me.
Believing in conformity,
Living in a world of uniformity;
I'd ride along with the tide.
I'm waiting for the wind to rise,
To let it check in all my security,
And stepping from the shoreline
Into the waves, then out to sea.
Recently I visited
The old town for the day.
All the people that I'd known had
Married or gone away.
The place still made me feel the same,
Like somehow I was to blame
For the way I dressed,
Like I'd failed a test.
And passing by a newspaper stand,
Bought a small piece of insanity;
And inside they said
That maybe Canada or some place
Was making it free.
What a place to be!
