Haus am See [English translation]
Haus am See [English translation]
I was born here and walk through the streets
know every face, every house, every store.
Sometimes I must get away, I know every pidgeon by name.
Thumb out, I wait for a beautiful woman with a fast car.
The sun blinds, everything flies past,
and the world behind me gets slowly smaller.
The world is purely made for me.
I know she's waiting and I go pick her up.
I have the day on my side, I have a tailwind,
a women's choir singing for me on the edge of the street!
I lay back and look deep into the blue,
close my eyes and simply walk forward.
And at the end of the street stands a house on the lake,
Orange tree leaves lay on the path.
I have 20 children; my wife is beautiful.
Everyone comes by, I never need to go out.
I look for new lands with unfamiliar streets,
foreign faces, no one knows my name!
Win everything with marked cards.
Lose everything, God has a tough left hook.
I dig treasures out of snow and sand.
and women rob me of my senses.
Eventually luck will find me
and I will return with both pockets full of gold.
I invite the old birds and relatives
and everyone starts crying for joy,
we grill, the mothers cook, and we drink Schnapps
and party a week every night.
And the moon shines brightly on my house on the lake,
Orange tree leaves lay on the path.
I have 20 children; my wife is beautiful.
Everyone comes by, I never need to go out.
I was born here, I will be buried here,
have deaf ears, a white beard and sit in the yard
my 100 grandchildren play Cricket on the grass
when I think about it so then I can hardly wait.
