Qué suerte he tenido de nacer [English translation]
Qué suerte he tenido de nacer [English translation]
I'm so lucky of being born,
to hold tightly the hand of a friend
and being able to assist as a witness
to the miracle of every dawn.
I'm so lucky of being born,
to have the option of the scales,
to weight the defeat and the hope
with the glory and the fear of falling.
I'm so lucky of being born,
to understand that the honest and the wicked
are both the owners of the universe
even though they have different ideas.
I'm so lucky of being born,
to shut my mouth when who knows more speaks,
to learn to listen, that's the key,
if one has intentions to know.
I'm so lucky of being born,
and I say it without wishing to gloat,
the total victory, of oneself,
is summarized in the being and the non-being.
I'm so lucky of being born,
to sing to the people and to the rose
and to the dog and to the love and to anything
that the feeling could pick up.
I'm so lucky of being born,
to have access to the fortune
of being river instead of lagoon,
of being rain instead of seeing the rain.
I'm so lucky of being born,
to eat the apple consciously,
without the ancestral fear to the cassock
nor to the final revenge of Lucifer.
But I know, I really know...
that someday I'll die too.
If now I live happy with my luck,
who knows what will I think in my death,
which will be the balance in the agony, I don't know,
I never been in that corner.
But I know, I really know...
that in my final trip I'll hear
the ambiguous tolling of the bells
waving me goodbye, and another morning
and another voice, like me, with another accent,
will sing to the four winds...
I'm so lucky of being born.
